Broward Correctional Institute in Pembroke Pines Florida was chosen as the  first Prison in America to view Mel Gibson's "The Passion of Christ." over 250 model prisoners  were chosen out of 750 to watch the film on Saturday, Easter weekend 2004.

Special thanks to Chuck Colson Prison Fellowship and Women Influencing the Nation, an Ohio-based women's advocacy group, with the cooperation of Mel Gibson’s Icon Productions.

I also want to take time to thank the Warden at Broward Correctional Institute and all involved in the decision making process. All we hear is negativity about prisons it seems and this was a wonderful privilege given to the inmates. I understand there is to be follow up ministry also so lets be thankful for the open door!

Tina wrote "and it killed me when He (Jesus) dropped the cross and "His Mother" was running towards HIM trying to get to HIM, oh my gosh my heart hit the floor, this movie has truly moved me in a way I have never been moved before"

"I cant explain what this movie did to me, but I can say  I am much more humble and obedient than I ever was before..."

"What gets me is this world thinks Easter is about bunnies. They put on the nice bonnets and go marching around in parades. They go to church only once a year-and that's what they call Easter? No! I don't ever call it Easter after seeing this movie. How could I? It's the day we celebrate the Resurrection. It's Resurrection Day, because the only innocent prisoner in the world was taken to death row, and "HE" was nailed to a Cross, the MOST painful, humiliating death a person could ever experience..."
