050 Now, a church...
Now, the church name is associated with the nature of its character. Did you
notice the Smyrna meaning "bitter"? And you notice each one of the
church now, it's the--the church name has something to do with the character of
the church. I could say something here; but I'd better not, 'cause you'd get me
wrong. See? Your name does too. You might not know it, but it
does. Oh, yeah. You say now, "It's numerology." No, it's not. When
Jacob was born, they called him Jacob which was "supplanter"; but when
he wrestled with the Angel, God changed his name to Israel, "a
prince." Is that right? Saul was "Saul of Tarsus," a mean fellow;
but when he come to Jesus, he's called, "Paul." Simon's name was
"Simon"; when he come to Jesus, he was called Peter, "a little
stone." Oh, yes, sir. The... Your name associates what you're... It has
an impression upon your character. “Name Changed…”

Did you notice Abraham was called Abram, but when God went
to use him, He changed his name to Abraham. S-a-r-r-a was Sarra, but when God
was going to use her, He changed her name to S-a-r-r-a-h: Sarah,
"princess." Did you notice Jacob? "Jacob" was "supplanter."
Esau means "red, hairy and red"; red-headed, and red all over, is
Esau. Now, and Jacob was "supplanter." And "supplanter" is a
"deceiver." Didn't Esau say, "Isn't his name called Jacob, 'supplanter'?"
But when he wrestled with the Lord all night long, and overcome, and was
blessed, God changed his name: Jacob, Israel, "a prince with God."
Paul was called Saul until he met the Holy Spirit in the form of a Light that
shined down upon him; his name was changed from Saul to Paul. Simon, when he met
Jesus, He changed his name to Peter. That... And when Jesus overcome, His Name was changed. And He
would reveal that Name, "He that would be with Him, overcome as He has, he
received a new name; and I'll reveal My new Name to him." See? And every
overcomer, I mean, among such as that, them leaders and so forth. Now, all the
children of Israel didn't get their name changed, of course. That's right. But
those high leaders, when they overcome, they had received a new name. See how it
dovetails in just perfectly? “Christ

Therefore, there would be One anointed above all the prophets; for the prophets had a portion of God, but He had the Fullness of God. See? Now, so man could just have a portion. He had the Fullness of the Godhead bodily. “Joshua Means Savior”

Look. The same life that the token dipped in... The same thing that the
token did in Egypt, it spared everything that was under it; everything without
it perished. Joshua is a type of Jesus, which "Joshua"
means "Jehovah-Saviour." So does "Jesus" mean
"Jehovah-Saviour." Joshua was true to the token sign that his
messengers had preached. So will Jesus be true to the Token sign that His
messengers preach, when He comes. All under it was saved in Egypt. All under it
was saved in Jericho. What about today? We find out the lamb's blood was a type
of Jesus Christ. All right. “Titles to a Name”

Has the Name of the Lord changed in the different dispensations? Yes, yes. It was once called--He was called the I AM.
He's called Jehovah, and He's changed many times. The last time it was changed
was when God became flesh and took a human name. Jehovah, I AM, and all of
those, are titles to a Name. See? If you was baptized in the name of
Jehovah, it'd have to be the Name of Jesus Christ. If you was baptized in the
name of Jehovah-rapha, Jehovah Manasses, and Jehovah-jireh, all of those, it'd
have to be Jesus Christ. The I AM is Jesus Christ. Remember, standing there that day, and He said,
"You say you eat manna in the wilderness..." "Our fathers eat manna" "And are dead." He said. And they said, "Well, we know now you're crazy,
because you're just a man and not over fifty years old, and say you seen
Abraham." He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM." See?
He was the I AM. And all the titles and names that ever belonged to God was made
one human Name, the Lord Jesus Christ. All right. “It

All right, you get me Acts 7:55. All right. Mark 14:62, Brother Neville; and
Sister Wood is Ephesians 1:20; Acts 7:55, Sister Arnold. All right, do you have it, Brother
Neville? All right, read now: [Brother Neville reads, "And Jesus said, I
am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and
coming in the clouds of heaven."--Ed.] All right, now, watch the first phrase there. Jesus
said, "I AM." "I AM." Who was the I AM? There has
never been a man in all the world could interpret It. Even the--you who
read the Lexicons and so forth, there has never been a man who could make out...
It's J-v-h-u. And even the Hebrew scholars could never pronounce it. That
burning bush there, that day when He met with Moses, It was J-v-h-u. So they
pronounced It "J-o-h, Jehovah," but It isn't
"Jehovah." J-v-h-u (See?) no one knows. And you say, "Well, Moses couldn't make It
out." He said, "Who can I say?" He
said, "Say, 'I AM' sent you: I AM." Now, watch. I AM is a present tense, not "I
was" or "I will be," I AM. Now, He said, "This will be a
memorial through all generations: I AM." “Elohim” GOD'S

And I wonder about that then if we'll go back to the beginning, all
things begin in Genesis. And in Genesis, we find out that God created man for
His fellowship. God loved to come down and to fellowship with His people. God,
in the beginning... Genesis 1: "In the beginning, God..." That
word there in Hebrew is "El-- Elah--Elohim, the all-sufficient One;
the self-existing One; the strong One." And in Him was attributes to be
Father; in Him was attribute to be Son; in Him was attributes to be Saviour; in
Him was attributes to be Healer; in Him was attributes to be God. There was
nothing but God and God alone. Now, these attributes was in Him so that made it
display something to worship Him. The first thing He made was angelic beings,
and they worshipped Him; they could not fall. Then He put man in flesh; he fell
by free moral agency, given the right to choose right and wrong. But God, in the beginning (I guess) it was the most glorious time, when our gracious, precious God came down in the garden of Eden in the cool and would talk to Adam and Eve, and they would fellowship. “Emmanuel”

He was--He was the God-prophet. He was what all the prophets was, it was in Him, plus the rest of what God was. God was in Christ reconciling Himself to the world. Emmanuel, which is "God with us." Then God was manifested in the flesh
in order to take away the sin of the world, and in doing so, He was given the
Name of Jesus. So Jesus is the Name. And the Name was placed in a Man, not a

What is the Name of the Son? And He said, "A little while and the world seeth Me no more, yet ye shall see Me." He's come in the form of the Holy Ghost, the same Jesus. That was the reason they was worshipping, "O Jesus." See, see? Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: It's the Lord Jesus Christ. That's all. Jehovah-jireh, which was God's first redemptive Name. "Jehovah-jireh"
means "the Lord will provide a sacrifice." Now, He was Jehovah-jireh; He was Jehovah-rapha,
nissi, and on down like that. He had seven compound redemptive Names. And
substitutionary to a human life took a lamb and offered it up as the provided
sacrifice, that in Isaac all the nations would be blessed, and through Isaac
came out Christ. "And we being dead in Christ, take on Abraham's Seed and
are heirs according to the promise." There you are. And that brings, not in
our bodies; we are Gentiles in our bodies; we're sinners in our bodies. But in
our souls, being borned again with the same spirit was upon faithful Abraham,
that strain down in there makes us want to trust God, but the body gets scared.

Abraham was an old man, a hundred years old, when God appeared to him in
the Name of Almighty God. The "Almighty" there comes from the Hebrew
word of the "El Shaddai" which means the bosom or breast
of a woman. Now, he was old; his strength was gone. But El Shaddai is the
Almighty, the strength Giver. And all Abraham had to do to obtain
this promise was lay right on that promise, other words, like the baby to it's
mother, and nurse from the mother, strength for the baby. And we do the same thing when we come to God and see
His promise. We just lay right to Him and draw from His Word the strength of
God, given in its course, not taking our own mind; just believing it.
"After He had endured, he obtained the promise." Oh, I just love that! “Before Abraham Was, I Am”

Then one day He had--He'd... That's what the Jews thought. That's the way
He made Himself known to the Jews. How many knows that's the Scripture? All
right. Now, if He made Hisself known to the Jews, that was Jesus yesterday with
the Jews. Now, you said, "The Samaritans was looking for Him to come."
Yes, they were, but not the Gentiles, just the Samaritans. And when He first met the Samaritans... He had need
to go by Samaria, and He stopped and sent His disciples away for food about
twelve o'clock; He set down on the well. Out come a woman, started... Now, we
know her in this land to be a woman of ill-fame, a street lady, you know,
prostitute. And so, she come out, and started to let the bucket down in the well
to get some water, and she heard a voice saying, "Woman, bring Me a
drink." And she looked around, and there set a middle-aged Jew. He was only thirty something, but the Bible said He
looked fifty. They said, "You're a man not over fifty years old and said
you seen Abraham." He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM."
He must've looked kind of old because of His work, His human body. “The Lord of Hosts”

His back then to the earth, start marching on, the Old Testament saints coming

can hear the angels on the inside of the wall say, "Who is this Prince of
glory? I can hear the Old Testament saints, "The

it? It's Somebody approaching. A great One's approaching. Trumpet sounds,
Somebody's coming. He looked. Hallelujah. ... trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the
last:... (Hm. Not announcement of the second party, or the third party,
but the only party. "I'm both Alpha and Omega; before I show you anything,
I want to let you know Who I am." Amen.) The greatest of all the revelations is the Deity, the Supreme Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. You can't get to first base until you believe that, walk out... That's what Peter said, "Repent, and then see the Deity. Be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and then you're ready to go in the Spirit." The first thing you have to know is the Deity of Christ. "I am Alpha and Omega. I'm from A to Z; there's no more but Me. I was at the beginning; I'll be at the end. I'm He that was, which is, and shall come, the Almighty." Think of it. That's what the trumpet said. |
