LAMSA
E-4 004 I have been thinking today, that they misnamed
Chicago being windy city. I think it should have been Tulsa. I could hardly
sleep last night; the wind was so hard. And I thought, "Many times have I
been in Chicago, but never such a wind, as I--we had last evening." And
then the service, it was so hard, the wind blowing and making a noise. It was
rather a bit of confusion.
But it all paid up today, to
get to meet some precious people. I had
the privilege of meeting Dr. Lamsa, today, the translator of the Lamsa
translation of the Bible. And such a privilege... You know, I would rather
you'd give me a little rose bud, right now, than a whole wreath after I'm gone.
I think maybe he'd think the same thing. I
certainly can prescribe to his translation, for meeting him and finding such a
lovely spirit of a real true Christian believer. God bless his gallant soul. I
don't know as I've ever met any more spiritual man than Dr. Lamsa. May the
Lord richly bless Him
108 046 A few days ago, talking to the great Doctor Lamsa, who translated
the Bible from the Aramaic unto English... And I seen that little sign, God's sign on there, with three little dots in it. I
said, "Doctor Lamsa, what is that?"
He said, "It's God, with three attributes."
And I said, "You mean, God living in three offices, such as,
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?"
He raised and looked at me,
tears come in that Jew's eyes; he said, "Do you believe that, Brother
Branham?"
I said, "With all that's in my heart."
He
throwed his arms around me and said, "I wondered when I seen that great
things going forth, and the signs that you were doing." Said, "They
told me you was a prophet. I didn't believe it till now. Now, I know you
are." He said, "That's it. That's the message. That's the thing
that'll shake the Kingdom of God." Yes. He said, "Someday you'll die
for it, boy." Said, "You'll seal your testimony with that very same
thing."
122 074 When that great man, Doctor Lamsa, the
translation of the Lamsa Bible, when he said that morning when I told him that,
I said--I said, "What's that sign?"
He said, "That's God's ancient sign in the
Hebrew: God, one God in three attributes."
I said, "Such as
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?"
He
stopped, and he set his cup of coffee down; he looked at me. Gene, believe you
was there, Leo. Said, "You believe that?"
I said, "With all my
heart."
He said, "Last night, standing in your meeting, Brother Branham, I seen that discernment. I've never seen it before
in America, or in my land." He said, "These American people don't
even know the Bible. Only thing they know is their denomination. They don't
even know where they're standing." Said, "They don't know
nothing." He said, "But when I stood there
last night," said, I said... Now, Brother Gene, I just say this
with reverence and love and such; He said, "I
said, 'That must be a prophet.' But when I see that you believe that
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost was no three gods, it was attributes, then I know
that you are a prophet of God, or it wouldn't be revealed to you like
that." He said, "That's a perfect sign." Said, "I've
never..." Said, "You're not Oneness?"
125 075 I said, "No, sir. I am not the Oneness.
I believe in God being the Almighty God, and the three attributes are only
three offices that the one God lived in."
He said, "Bless your
heart." He said, "Someday you'll pour your blood upon the earth for
that," but said, "prophets always die for their cause."
And
I said, "So let it be, if it pleases my Lord." The translation of the
Lamsa Bible...
He said, "That's God in
three attributes."
I said, "Such as
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?"
He looked at me; he said,
"Do you believe that?"
And I said, "Yes,
sir."
He said, "I seen that discernment the other night; I thought you
was a prophet of the Lord." Said, "God bless your heart." Put
his arm around me, said, "Now, I know it is." He said, "These
American people don't even know what..." Said, "They don't even know
nothing." Said, "They're trying to take an eastern Book and make a
western Book out of It. They don't even know their Bible. He said,
"There's no other Name given under heaven, no other Name, for everybody
was ever baptized other than in the Name of Jesus Christ. There's no such a
thing as three persons in one God." And if that isn't Brother Lamsa, Doctor Lamsa, the translator of the Lamsa
Bible, which is a bosom friend to Eisenhower and all the great diplomats
of the world, and everything else, throwed his arms around me, said,
"Someday they'll shoot you for that." But said, "Remember, all
those people die for a cause."
2-1 003 I... Brother, I believe it was Doctor Lamsa, of the Lamsa Bible,
at--was in the translation who said... One time I was speaking and I didn't
know he was there. And he come back and was talking about the Urim Thummim, and
then he was speaking of that Light, and he said, "What is the matter with
these people today?" And I said... He said, "The reason that people, the translators, could not translate the
Bible correctly, that the translators tried to translate in the high Yiddish,
and Jesus speaking, spoke in the common class, just like the street
people spoke." And you know, there
is a Scripture over in Luke said, "The common people heard Him
gladly." He spoke in their language. I hope that's so again.
39 022 One day, with letters in his pocket from
the high priest, to arrest all those people that were in that condition,
because that would been the charge that Paul was set to... He was on his road
down to a city called Damascus. They'd them quietened down around in Jerusalem.
So he had--he had stoned Stephen, and Paul had him stoned, give witness and
held the coat. Now he'd go down here and do the same thing, and get rid of this
great hindrance.
But about... Must've been
about noontime, around eleven, twelve o'clock, he was stricken down. And when
he did, he looked up, and there was a Light standing before him, and a Voice
coming out of this Light, saying, "Saul, Saul (a question), why are you
persecuting Me?" Now, Paul knew, or Saul, rather, knew that his people had
been following that same Light since they come up out of Egypt. And if...
Did you ever see the Lamsa translation of the Bible, the
old... The--the old Hebrew sign of--of
God is a triangle Light, more or less, something like that, that the three attributes of God in one Godhead.
And this triangled Light, the three in One, being one God, was a--a sign to the
Hebrews of God, Light.
62 029 Now, in the heavens above... Did you notice I'm looking on this, the--the Light on the
picture there out of the "Life" Magazine, that the brother
that lives here in this home has put on his wall, that triangle of Light.
I just happened to run
across my mind. If any of you has the Lamsa Bible
translation, if you'll notice over the cover of it, is a triune, trinitarian light,
a three-cornered light like a halo. And when Dr. Lamsa, a friend, my personal
friend, was translating the Bible, that is the old Hebrew symbol of God in the
true trinitarian way that He is: not three Gods, but three manifestations of
the same God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Light is one complete circle of
Light in a triangle shape, which means that God will dwell in three offices,
the Fatherhood, Sonship, and Holy Ghost dispensation, all the same God.
62 032 Now, always making known His voice to His
people by His prophet sign... Now, I'm talking about Moses. That's where I'm
banking back, and then see where we're at. God's Word is manifested by the
voice of the sign.
Now, the sign that is
promised for the day is done before the people. And then the written Scripture
comes forth is the voice of that sign. If it doesn't give a Scriptural voice,
then stay away from it. See? It's not God, 'cause God can't promise this for
today, and say, "Well, this is it." See? God cannot do that. God
cannot promise something for one day and say, "No, no. It--it--I--I won't
do that. That was for another day." What He promises, He must stay with
it. And the real Scriptural sign is the Scriptural voice.
Moses' sign that he saw was
God in cosmic Light. And then, when He did that...
And does anybody know the old Hebrew sign,
even before there was a Bible written, was a triangle shape, or a oval shape of
a cosmic light? It's exactly right, the Logos.
Now, Dr. Lamsa has that in his Bible, on the cover on the outside.

Now not only is what I have
just said true, but let us go a step further. Today we have some students who claim that the original manuscripts
were written in the Aramaic which was the language of Jesus and the people of
His day. It is claimed by them that the people did not speak and write in
the Greek as is so commonly supposed. And the fact is our historians are
divided on that. For example, Dr. Schonfield, a most brilliant student has from
research proved to his satisfaction that the New Testament was written in the
vernacular of the Greek speaking people of that day. He builds up a fine case
for his beliefs, based on the various documents at his disposal. But on the
other hand we have another renowned student, Dr. Lamsa, who is convinced that the New Testament was written in the
Aramaic and he has none other than the brilliant historian, Toynbee, to back up
his contention that the Aramaic, and NOT THE GREEK was the language of the
people, so it seems possible that the New Testament was first written in the
Aramaic.

However, before we get too
concerned about this, let us read both
the King James version and the translation by Dr. Lamsa. To our gratification
we find the words in both amazingly the same so that there is no difference
actually in content or doctrine. We may even
conclude that God has allowed these newly discovered manuscripts and recent publications
of already known scripts to come before us to prove the authenticity of what we
already had. And we find that though translators may fight each
other, scripts do not.

Now you can see that you can't base interpretation upon
students' profound knowledge of the language the Bible is written in. But
if you still can't see that because you are veiled in your mind by tradition
here is one last illustration. No one can doubt but what the Scribes and
Pharisees and the great scholars of the year 33 A.D. knew the exact laws of
grammar and the exact meanings of the words in which the Old Testament was
written; but for all their superb knowledge they missed the revelation of God's
promised Word manifested in the Son. There He was set forth from Genesis to
Malachi, with whole chapters devoted to Him and His ministry, and yet except
for a few who were illuminated by the Spirit, they missed him entirely.

- CHURCH AGE BOOK CPT 1
We now come to a conclusion, such conclusion as we have already found
in the Word. As much as we believe in trying to find the oldest and best
manuscripts to get the best record of the Word possible, we will never get
the true meaning of it by study and comparison of Scriptures, sincere as we may
be. IT WILL TAKE A REVELATION FROM GOD TO BRING IT OUT. THAT IS
EXACTLY WHAT PAUL SAID, "WHICH THINGS WE ALSO SPEAK, NOT IN WORDS WHICH
MAN'S WISDOM TEACHETH, BUT WHICH THE HOLY GHOST TEACHETH." I Cor. 2:15.
The true revelation is God interpreting His own Word by vindicating what is
promised.

Now don't let anyone be
misled by what I have said and think that I do not believe in the accuracy of
the Word as we now have it. I believe this Bible is accurate. Jesus
completely authenticated the Old Testament when here on earth and it was
compiled exactly as was our New Testament. Make no mistake about it, we have the
infallible Word of God today and no man dares take from it or add to it.
But we need the same Spirit that gave it, to teach it to us.
