The name represents the nature, character, status, function, destiny as well as history. The name embodies the person.

Note: To better understand the true Name of God we must realize Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, to day, and for ever.” and the Alpha and Omega  principal that what God was in the Old Testament He has to be in the New Testament even as Jesus said  “I am Alpha and Omega.” (Rev 22:13)

ACTS 2:36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.” What about that? Is He a third person of the trinity, or is He the entire trinity? He is the entire Fullness of the Godhead bodily. We can see that all the fullness dwells in Name of The Lord Jesus Christ

Would you like to know the Name of the Father?

JOHN 5:43 “I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” (We plainly see the Name of the Father is Jesus Christ)

We all come into the world in our fathers name and so did the man Jesus. The difference here is that Jesus was the very Body of God where the fullness of the Name dwelt whereas we are only portions of our earthly fathers!

We shall know His Name:

Isaiah 52:6 “Therefore my people shall know my name: Therefore they shall know in that day that I am he who speaks: “Behold it is I.”

This simple study tool is dedicated to The Lord Jesus Christ.

 MATTHEW 1:1

The exact pronunciation of  3068 YHWH is  much debated.  This is commonly called the Tetragrammaton. This is called the unpronounceable word and the Jew came to use the word adonoi simply meaning “lord” even as Sarah called Abraham lord meaning master. (see attached sheet for further study of the Tetragrammaton.)

Summary: We can see plainly that the name Jesus in the original text translates Joshua meaning “ Jehovah is salvation” and is the same Hebrew word from which many Jewish students and scholars translate Jehovah, Yehovah, Jahweh, Yahweh, and Yeshuah. Yesuah (3444)  is translated (salvation). Many personel names contain a form of the root such as Joshua “the Lord is help” and Jesus (the Greek form of yesuah).

7. JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH

Þ  I AM THERE (EZEK. 48:35)

TO KNOW THE NAME IS TO KNOW THE PERSON

 (a) I SAMUEL 25:25  Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, [even] Nabal: for as his name [is], so [is] he; Nabal [is] his name, and folly [is] with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.

Changing the name has an effect on ones character

or God would never have changed peoples names.

(a) Abram to Abraham  GENESIS 17:5   Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

(b)Jacob to Israel  GENESIS 32:27  And he said unto him, What [is] thy name? And he said, Jacob. .GENESIS 32:28  And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

(c) Simon to Peter  MATTHEW 16:17  And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. MATTHEW 16:18  And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Interesting to note here is Jesus is calling Peter a “stone head”, meaning he was a little hardheaded.

The Name of Jesus

MATTHEW 1:21    And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

ELOHIM

This word is in the plural coming from two words. It implies “the Strong One bound by an oath.”

(a)      EL=strength

(b)Alah= to swear, to bind oneself by an oath-implying faithfulness

JEHOVAH (Yahweh)

The primary meaning is to become  EXODUS 3:14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. HEBREW LEXICON -- STRONG'S NUMBER 1961  hayah    {haw-yaw} 1) to be, become.

This points to a continuing self revelation signifying “the self existent one who reveals Himself.” This is an advance on the name “God” (Elohim) which suggests certain attributes of  Deity, as strength etc. rather than His essential being.  Jehovah is clearly the redemptive name of Deity as defined in Genesis 3:9-13 where it is Jehovah Elohim calling to Adam. The seven compound redemptive names of Jehovah were mentioned above.  Jehovah, or Yahwe is formed from the root word Havah.

EL SHADDAI

This is used in  GENESIS 17:1    And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I [am] the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

(a)      EL=strength

(b)Shaddai= formed from the Hebrew word “shad”, the breast  Shad means udder which is the part of the female which contains the milk, that is, all the nourishment, all the supply. So this name means “  the nourisher, the strenth-giver, the satisfier who gives calmness, quietness, and rest” even as a mother does her child. This also signifies fruitfulness as Sarah received strength to bear Isaac. HEBREWS 11:11  Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. HEBREWS 11:12  Therefore sprang there even of one, and him (Abraham) as good as dead, [so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

ADONAI

This simply means lord or ruler. Many Jews use this name instead of Jehovah because they realize Jehovah means Jesus. JOHN 8:24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins. JOHN 8:58  Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

The Everlasting Father

ISAIAH 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ISAIAH 9:7 Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. In this verse “government “ signifies rulership. This entire study proves by the Scripture with the Hebrew and Greek Lexicons also vindicating that all God was or ever will be is fullfilled in the Name of  The Lord Jesus Christ. As Uncle Buddy Robinsom would say “any sensible person would have to agree.” Note: Notice here that the Scripture says He (Jesus) shall be called the Everlasting Father-it does not say that He was the Father. How could the Son be His own father?

The Everlasting God

This is used in  GENESIS 21:33    And [Abraham] planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God.  Heb. El Olam (5956) meaning perpetual indefinate existence and comes from the Heb. root word alam (5956) meaning to hide, conceal, be secret. He is not merely everlasting but the Everlasting God who reveals the hidden mysteries of Himself.

The Most High God

GENESIS 14:18  And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God.  This simply means the highest indicating God is over all. (Heb. EL Elyon)

JEHOVAH SABAOTH

I SAMUEL 1:3  And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh.   Sabaoth (6635) entertains the idea of warrior with special reference to warfare or service.
