Missionary

MY COMMISSION     LA CA  51-0505

E-5    So tomorrow afternoon... I always try to speak in the afternoon. And the people take a--a missionary offering for me that--that helps the overseas missionaries over in the foreign fields.

I never knew what missionaries was till I taken a taste of it myself. It's glorious. But oh my, if there's anyone needs help, it's a poor missionary on--on the far flung fronts there where he has to go up against everything; and especially those who are battling the battle with the supernatural.

EARLY SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES   HAMMOND IN    52-0713A

E-1    Brother Baxter. It's all right. Good evening, friends. I'm very happy to be here. God bless you, Brother Upshaw. I'm so happy to see him; I didn't think he would get back in time. But he was telling me he had been up and back, and been many places, and met thousands of my friends in--in the Scandinavian countries, and very happy to get to see him again.

Heard he got an infection in his feet. Missionaries have a hard time, Brother Upshaw. I had some of my own. I--I know what it is to--to be a missionary. They confront everything, all kinds of perils, and dangers, and sicknesses, and diseases, and so forth, but God delivereth him out of them all. The God that could heal you after being an invalid for--for sixty-six years, can sure take care of an athletic foot, can't He? That is right.

181    Like speaking last night to the missionaries. I said, "Yeah, you go over here to school and you learn your theology, and go out here, reading, writing, and arithmetic, and go to Africa and make a twofold child more of hell, out of the native, than you did in the first place."

But I said, "Jesus, when He was commissioned His disciples to go be missionaries," He said, 'Behold, I send the promise of the Father upon you, but tarry ye first in the city of Jerusalem,' not in some seminary, not in some school of ethics. He said, 'Tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until you're endued with power from on High. Behold, I send the promise of the Father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem till you're endued with power from on High. After this the Holy Ghost is come upon you, then you shall be missionaries, or witnesses, unto Me in Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the world.'"

And till a man is equipped by the Holy Spirit, not by education, not by theology, not by church membership... Amen. [Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]... been to Jerusalem and filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost, he's unqualified for the pulpit, that's right, as a missionary or anything else.

184    And when Philip went down there, the first missionary ever went out, went down to Samaria. And when he got down there, he preached the Gospel, healed the sick, and opened the eyes of the blind, unstopped the ears of the deaf. There was great joy in the city.

And everywhere a real true missionary of God, or a preacher goes, there is joy bells ringing, of the resurrection of Christ. You can't keep death and Life together; it'll separate. Amen. Then when Christ comes into the human heart, He separates you from the dead things of the world unto a living hope, a new creature in Christ Jesus, and he becomes a new man. I tell you, my brethren, if the world needs anything today, is the real true resurrection of Christ preached to them.

JESUS CHRIST THE SAME YESTERDAY   JONESBORO AR    53-0506

E-4    I said, "Now, don't wait for a missionary to come. You take this same message and go to the tribes where the white man can't even go." And I got a message back in there, that from one tribe... This was about a year, after I... pretty near a year after I had left, that they taken seven van loads, big van loads, of watches, and fire arms, and things, that those natives had stole, returning it back; they didn't want it anymore, nothing to do with any stealing, or anything wrong. And one of the... One of the men that went out, which was a heathen one day, and the next day went out, and he baptized up to as many as a thousand a week: baptizing his native friends, as many as a thousand a week in Jesus Christ.

Oh, my. That's what it is. Don't wait to educate a missionary to go in. Let the man take the message to his own people. For God is doing a quick work. The end is at hand. And I believe that with all my heart.

E-2    But I am so happy to be here. Brother Moore was just telling me that they had taken up an offering for missionary work, to be given over to me for missionary work. I thank--I thank you. May God bless you.

I--I just don't know how to say it. I--I... It's just something about missionary that I just--it just... I just love it. And I just know that what you're doing... You're doing God's will when you give to missions. That is right.

It's not fair that one person hear the Gospel twice, when somebody hasn't heard it once. See? Everybody should hear the Gospel at least once. And I--I want to do my part to try to take the Gospel to everybody that I know how, every place. And I...

E-3    Used to, on the difference of the remunerations of the meeting, and what I'd had left over, I'd give it to charity organizations and so forth. Now, I have nothing at all against them, not at all. And I think they're all fine, every one of them, from the Salvation Army, and the Volunteers of America, the Red Cross, polio drives, and many of those things. It's good to give to those things. But I thought, the people that comes to my meeting, are people who are usually poor people, and they're interested in the Kingdom of God. While much of the world, of the people, of the common run of people that doesn't go to church, businessmen, and so forth writes checks for them drives and so forth for thousands and thousands of dollars, while a poor missionary suffers with a lack.

E-4    After all... We know we that we like to see everybody well. We like to see people that's hungry be fed. But you know, the soul is the most important thing of anything in the mortal. 'Cause that's the thing that lasts forever. And I...

And you know, when... I believe that every Christian is obligated to be a missionary. I believe every Christian is obligated. Now, not so much as you have to go over in the old countries and preach or something. But if you can't go, you can help send somebody else. You see? See? What you do to send somebody else...

WORD BECAME FLESH INDIA TRIP     JEFF IN   54-1003M

19 ….. an apostle is a missionary. The word mission-- "apostle" means "one sent." And why the missionary wants to be called a missionary, instead of an apostle, I don't know. The Bible order of it is, is apostle. And so then he's sent out. He's not exactly has to be a minister. He... Apostle don't have to be a minister; he just has to be one that's sent. God sent him to do certain things.

RAISING JAIRUS DAUGHTER    SHREVEPORT LA   56-0731

E-15    Now, we could go down and being a missionary... Now, you say, "Brother Branham, you'd take the claim as a missionary and just going back and forth overseas?" Oh, yeah. That is a missionary. One who goes and stays is not a missionary. He just changed residence. If you go over there and stay four or five, eight and ten, twelve years, you just changed residence.

Paul was the greatest missionary we've ever had, and he'd just go over here for a few weeks and there for a few weeks. That's a missionary. See? But one that goes and stays, just makes his home over there, he's just changed his residence. He's just living in Germany, or he's living in Africa, somewhere like that. He's a pastor or--or evangelist over there.

Now, we want to notice that in our text tonight, it says here that it was on the instance of the healing or raising from the dead, Jairus' daughter, the little priest.

THIRSTING FOR LIFE      LA CA   59-0414

E-5    And my greatest ministry is overseas. But I don't want to go over there asking the peoples to pay my way and things. I go along here, and just as the people give to me, I save it, as much as I can, till I accumulate enough to go over, so I can pay my own way with the American money, to those poor people who doesn't have enough to eat. I know missionaries tonight, that's preaching the Gospel in the jungles on two meals a week with no shoes on their feet. Now, how could you expect me to live in luxury and such as that going on. Why, they'll stand in the day of judgment and condemn us for the things that we have, and yet, we should divide.

FAITHFUL ABRAHAM        LA CA    59-0415E

E-5    Someone, some time ago, was going to give me a large offering. He said it was a tithing, but it was too much for me; and I told him I wouldn't receive an offering like that. He said, "But Brother Branham, I must give it to you." Said, "It's tithings."

I said, "Well now, if it's tithings, it goes to God's church."

He said, "That's right."

And I said, "Well, if the Lord is giving you those tithes, He's got people somewhere to give it to. They're all out on the field everywhere." And when I know of missionaries preaching on the field with no shoes on, two meals a week, I can do without something myself. And I think we all could do that to help those poor brethren who are struggling for the cause of Christ.

CONVINCED AND THEN CONCERNED   CHICAGO IL    62-0521

E-7    I want to say that the greatest call there is in earth, to my opinion, is the mission field. Anyone who is a missionary is an apostle; for the word "apostle" means "one sent," and the word "missionary" is "one sent." So they're both the same word, or used the same. And why they ever preferred to call themselves missionaries I don't know, but it's a good word, or apostles.
