History repeats itself
E-16
All Scripture has a compound meaning, or it runs in cycles. For
instance, there where it said in Saint Matthew, I believe it was. "Out of
Egypt I have called my son." Now, that Scripture that Matthew was
referring to was really pertaining to Israel. And God said, "Out of Egypt,
I call My son, Israel." He'd called Israel His son out, but it also meant
Jesus. "Out of Egypt I've called My Son." See how it routines back?
The cycle of time swings back ever so often. History repeats itself, and Scripture repeats itself down
through the age. Any scholar knows that, that's ever studied it
from a spiritual standpoint to watch how Scripture will repeat itself, run in
cycles like that. It certainly does.
E-17
Wonder if you little boys or some of you could tell me who the third
man was that had that Spirit? Could you do it? Huh? Any student there can raise
your hand and tell me who the third man was that had that same Spirit? Huh?
John the Baptist. He came out of the wilderness. Jesus said, "This is the
Elijah which was spoke of was to come restore all things." And it made
Elijah--made John dress just like Elijah, perhaps acted like him, but John did
no miracles. And that same
Spirit is predicted to come on the earth today again the second time.
And I believe that it's on the earth today. And it is preaching a
great message of repentance through a mighty man of God who does no miracles,
speaks not of miracles, but blasting the world down with a message of
repentance. And following John came Jesus, not preaching too much, not much
of a preacher, but was performing signs and wonders as a vindication that
John's ministry was in season and a vindicated.
So
we're thankful to the Lord to be living to see the day that history repeats itself
again. And we're living in that day.
E-75
In their cold, intellectual theologies, they had got away from the
true teaching of the Bible, to look for those things. And history repeats itself.
And prophecy is usually compound meanings. You know what I'm speaking of.
Notice
now as they move. We could take Him on and on. Down in the pool of Bethesda,
the next chapter, the 5th, just keep Him through the Bible from Genesis to
Revelation. It's every time the same.
Let's
take just one statement here before we call the prayer line, pray for the
people. He went down into the pool of Bethesda. Tomorrow night we'll take it on
somewhere else, Lord willing.
E-54
I waited and man come through which was a leper, the first one... You
couldn't give out no prayer cards. My, the boys tried to give prayer cards, and
their clothes was tore off of them. See? So I said just like it was in Africa,
just let the missionaries pick out... Go down and get some from this tribe, and
some from that tribe, and some from this tribe, two or three out of each one
and stand them up.
And
then when we were standing there, and they'd... The officers had picked up some
to bring through, which they could, some more able. There come through first
was a--a man, a leper and standing... Many times as you see in the
meetings, It calls the people's names and where their from. Now, that shouldn't
be spooky to you, brethren. That's the Bible. It's a little
contrary to the modern conception of It; but so was Christ contrary to the
modern conception of that day. And we know that history repeats itself.
E-6 As our Scriptures
this morning take us back into the Old Testament to base our thinking for the
next few minutes on a historical event... And we know that history repeats itself ever so often. And in my study now, I'm
studying the Ante-Nicene Fathers and can see through the Scriptures how that we
are repeating again the age that has passed by. And all Scripture is
given by inspiration. And our blessed Lord said that the Scriptures cannot be
broken. All the Scriptures must be fulfilled. And what a consolation that is to
give to we, the people that read those Scriptures, knowing that what we have
read cannot be broken. It gives us the most solid foundation to rest our faith
on. And every Scripture must be fulfilled.

E-45 And remember now,
as we're closing. This is the end of the Gentile age. Never in history has it
been until the now; this is the end time. We've had Mr. Billy Graham, a great
spirit like John the Baptist that went forth doing no miracles.
How many ministers here
knows that history, church history, and prophecy repeats itself at least
once or twice? True. If you take Matthew 3. "Out of Egypt I
call My Son." Refer that back and see if it wasn't Jacob. That was His son
too. See? History repeats
itself.
And there went a great
spirit, announcing His first coming. There went a great spirit before the
destruction of the Jews, in the form of John the Baptist, he did no miracles at
all but was a mighty preacher. Now, in him came the spirit, that did not be a
forceful preacher, but just signs and wonders begin to take place everywhere.
Just at the closing of the age. This is the closing of the Gentile age. Let
us pray.

E-20 Jesus had just
been upbraiding the cities that He had been in, and had performed His mighty
miracles, and the people had not repented. Do you believe that history repeats itself?
Certainly, it does. History proves that. And what do you think that He would be
thinking tonight, as He now looks down upon Greenville, as He looks upon New
York, Chicago, and many of the great cities throughout the world where His
mighty works has been shown and the people are continually wading on in sin and
unbelief? And He was upbraiding them and telling them what their destruction
would be.
And some of you real shrewd
historians now, look back in the history and look at the present day in
Palestine, and every city that He cursed is sunk. And every one He blessed is
still standing, just as He said in this Scripture, this same chapter, and the
previous chapter that I've just read from. He said, "Thou Capernaum, thou
art exalted into heaven, but you shall be brought down to hell: for if the
mighty works had been done in Sodom, that has been done in you, it would remain
until this day."

E-27 Now, He
referred to Jonah, and I believe, that what He told Jonah, He was speaking
of this day. Now, He said, "They were seeking a sign, and they
would get a sign, the sign of the resurrection. For as Jonah was in the belly
of the whale for three days and nights, the Son of man shall be in the heart of
the earth for three days and nights. And then, the resurrection would be the
sign to a wicked and an adulternous generation."
Anyone knows, that
Scripture has a compound meaning, and history repeats itself. Do you believe Scripture has a compound meaning? All
right.
Take where it's--this one here,
just comes in my mind, where in Matthew 3, it said, "Out of Egypt, I've
called My Son." Run the reference to that and see if it didn't mean Jacob.
Certainly, it did--Jacob, God's son; it meant Jesus, God's Son. It had a
compound prophecy, many times has it.
And so, I believe that
we've come back to a wicked, and an adulternous generation. And this generation
has to receive the sign of the resurrection to dovetail with my first night's
sermon, of "The Signs That He Did Then." He's never done them since in
all the age, until the closing of the Gentile dispensation, that we're now
living in. And this wicked, and adulternous, and Christ-rejecting generation,
has received the sign of the resurrection, the last sign to be given to the
church.

78 It's repeated. It's
repeated again. History
repeats itself every so often. Yes, He knew that He had--He knew about
Life, but Nicodemus didn't know that He was Life. That's what it is today. So
many people try to make Jesus, oh, a great Teacher; they even try to say He was
a Prophet. But when you try to say He was God, that's too much. See? But
He was God, and He is God, and He always will be God. That's
all. That's right.
Notice, He never told
Nicodemus, now, when he come to Him, He never said, "Now, Nicodemus, I
have great respects for you, that you are a--a--a master in Israel. I'll tell
you what; you're searching Eternal Life, perhaps you ought to polish up on your
scholarship. You don't say your words right" (Nonsense.), "or maybe
you ought to seek a higher office in your denomination to have Eternal
Life."
WHAT SHALL I DO WITH JESUS JEFF IN 63-1124M
83 You see, the nature in history repeats
itself because nature continues the same. Trees still continue to
grow; and vegetables come up and flowers. And the world turns just as it always
is; it's nature. And the nature of each age produces again, and reproduces
the--the reflection of what a--a--a nature it was before then.
And today, we find
ourselves again standing on that same place. Now, Jesus was the Word (St. John,
the first chapter). We all believe that. He was the Word, and because He was
the Word... (Please understand.) He was the Word and He had to be against the system.
And they did not--they did not reject Him because of His miracles. They did
not... They said... He said, "Which can accuse Me?"
"And what evil had
He done?" said the little lady. "What evil has He done but heal the
sick?"
JESUS CAME AND CALLED TULARE CA 64-0213
6 And now it's repeated
again, 'cause we all know
history repeats itself every so often. And it's sad to say, but it was
prophesied to repeat, and it--it's done it again.
We find that Jesus wasn't
well thought of. Many times people want to judge the man who doesn't agree with
them. We're not to do that. We can disagree with one another, yet be
friendly. If I couldn't disagree with the man, and still love him and pray
for him, and disagree with him upon the basis of the Scripture, and for better
enlightenment, then I won't say nothing to him. I always want to disagree with
him friendly, because I love him. And I--I certainly don't want him to be lost.
And he should do the same thing with me. We don't want to be lost. And we must
base our thoughts upon what the Word says. Let the Word be true, not our creed,
or what our thoughts, but what He says, no private interpretation, just what
the Word says.
