E-29 But friends, I never done nothing in my life, any miracle, any of these miracles in these twenty-one months that I've been out, where thousands of them has been performed. I've never performed one of them. He is the One Who does that. See? He's the One. I don't have nothing to do with it. He's the One. I'm just a mouthpiece for Him. I just speak what He says. How would I know when people had faith, and people who did not have faith. And how would I know what you done ten years ago, or twenty years ago. I would not know that. It's God.

So the hour has come for the repeat of the Bible, and the fulfilling of the Word. Now, God promised that He was going to send a former rain and a latter rain. And He promised the former and the latter rain in the latter rain, in other words, a double portion. Like the garment of Elisha. When Elijah dropped it, Elisha picked up and had a double portion. He was a type as a type of the Church and Christ. Christ was taken up. And the same Spirit that was upon Christ is on the Church tonight, the Holy Ghost. See? "Nevertheless, if you see me go away," said Elijah. And he took the garment. Now... And struck the Jordan and said, "Let the God of Elijah speak."

E-22 Now, he had the promise. And isn't it strange, if the Holy Spirit give him that promise, and when the promise came, the Holy Spirit led Simeon, the one that had the promise, right straight to It. See how He does it?

Now, I do not believe there's anyone here... How many people in here is sick tonight, wants to be prayed for, let's see your hands, over the building? I don't believe you come to be seen. I don't believe you come to criticize. I believe you come, because you're expecting to be healed, and you believe in healing, don't you. You believe in Divine healing. And isn't it just the same Holy Spirit tonight, if He promised He would send in the last days these things. "Preach the Gospel to every creature. These signs shall follow them that believe." He promised it. And then He promised the former rain and the latter rain. And we're living now, have been for years, under the latter rain.

E-14 Now, the same word in the Bible, translated, s-a-v-e-d, and healed, is the very same word all the way through the Scriptures. Anyone knows that. Now, it's in the redemption; it's in the atonement; it's in the plan of God. You can be spiritually saved or physically saved, because He was wounded for our transgressions, with His stripes we're healed." Is that right? So it's just according to your faith.

Now, in His loving mercy, after ministers, through the years, has passed through the land and preached this wonderful Word, thousands of people has been blessed, and saved, and healed, and so forth. Then, in His sovereign mercy in the last days, as He promised, when the last days... "I will pour out My Spirit." There'd be a former and latter rain; and in the latter days, He would send forth a great blessing to the people. When the enemy comes in like a flood, I will raise up a standard against it." See?

Oh, I wish we... That's a sermon in itself. Time won't permit much longer. I've got to hurry. Notice, a sermon in itself, of the return of the Jews now, bringing with them the Gentile.

And when they got there, it was barley season; the great thrashing was on. And they had a near kinsman named Boaz. And Ruth went out to glean in the field, and was directed to Boaz's field, which was the kinsman. When she went out to glean, a type of the Gentile Church taking up the Bible, the Old Testament, to learn of God, being heathen, now, comes to learn of God.

The prophet said it'll be light in the evening. It'd be a day which was not day or night. It was gloomy. Back at the early church when they had signs and wonders of Jesus among them, they saw visions, and healed the sick, and so forth, great signs and wonders of the Bible. The light become dim. It went on till they come through the dark ages. After the dark age come Luther. After Luther come Wesley. After Wesley come Calvin. After Calvin come... Oh, just on and on. What is it? They had enough light to know that Jesus saved.

E-23 You know, there's--there's many times that people don't realize that Christ is near them like that. Jesus said, "Are you so slow at heart?" And watch. When Jesus appears He goes straight to the Scripture. He said, "Don't you know that the Scriptures must be fulfilled?" Hallelujah. Brother, I--I feel awful good right now. "Don't you know the Scriptures has got to be fulfilled?"

And when people say today... "Oh, it's a mental telepathy. Oh, it's nothing to it. It's just a bunch of holy-rollers, that..." Don't you know the Scriptures must be fulfilled? God has to appear in this last days to do the things He's doing now. It's to fulfill the Scripture. He said, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, I'll pour out My Spirit."

And remember, He said, "There'd be a former rain and a latter rain. And in the latter rain, both former and latter would come together," a double portion. Hallelujah.

Then if we see what the former rain produced, how much more will the latter rain produce? When God pours out His Spirit, there'll be signs and wonders take place. As I was speaking not long ago, as your beloved pastor published it, "When omnipotence speaks miracles happens." It has to. It has to.

He poured out His Spirit upon the Hebrew Church that day at the beginning at the day of Pentecost. He said, "There'd be a former rain and the latter rain." The two different people, the Jew and the Gentile. And in this last days, He'd pour out His Spirit upon the Gentile Church.

That's the reason people today, the religious world asks, "What's this fuss about? Why do they holler so loud? What makes them scream? What kind of a language do they talk in? What is all these things about?"

The world asks Who it is? But the saints cry, "Hosanna to Him that cometh in the Name of the Lord." It's the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God, poured out upon the church without--last days to show signs and wonders. The church knows it; they're borned of the Spirit.

E-30 Now, the Pharisees said, "Who is He?" They knowed Who He was. Now, the question is this today. When you see Him come and stand in the meeting, the Holy Spirit, and give a person enough faith to speak to another one here and tell him just exactly all about his life, what could do that? Whatever did do it? Never did until Jesus came and never has since then. What is it? The former rain coming into the latter rain. And the people that's called you crazy... E-13 Then we find also this unrest. Everything seems to be at a nervous co--ure--unrest, it's... The time has run out, the east and west has met one another, come forward from the east until the west has come and met it.

Now, the Bible said in my Scripture reading, there would be a day with the Lord that would not be called neither day nor night. It'd be a dismal day, just enough light to see how to get around. That's the day that we've lived in since the beginning. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Not a different sun, the same sun that rises in the east, sets in the west, and civilization has traveled with the sun.

And now, India was--or not India, but China was the oldest civilization, our first that we have record of. Now, we're back here to the west coast where the east and west has met. Civilization has traveled on with it. And during the time in the east when the Holy Spirit was poured out first was on the eastern people. Now, I'm quoting this again so you won't forget it. They had the first light. The s-u-n shines in the east first, and the S-o-n shined in the east first on the eastern people.

Now, we've had a dismal day. We've had enough light to walk in, enough to believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved. We formed churches, great Lutheran church, the Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian; all those great churches has come up during this time, but we've never had exactly a--a promise and a--a latter rain as we were prophesied to have. In the last days there would be a latter rain, and the former and latter rain would be together. Now, the first rain was in the east, the latter rain is in the west. And in the latter rain, both former and latter rain will be together.

E-52 Now, this Bible has the treasures. This Bible said, "That Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

Take the Bible. Jesus said, "Search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have Eternal Life, and they are they that testify of Me." That's how you're going to know, search the Scriptures. Is the Holy Ghost for you? Is the Holy Ghost for these people? Is the Holy Ghost for this generation? The Bible said it was. Is this the generation that the--that the signs of the believers was to follow? Search the Scripture. It said it would be so. Both former and latter rain would be poured out in this generation.

"Yeah, well, what generation?" The one that sees the fig tree putting forth its bud yonder, Israel returning to be a nation. When all these things is taken place, then these things will be taken place in the church. Here they are.

35-2 Father, so is it now at the near coming of Jesus again. Just like the vine; if the vine puts forth a branch, and that branch was a Pentecostal branch filled with the Holy Ghost and signs and wonders of fruits followed that branch; if that vine ever puts another branch it'll be the same kind of branch. We know that, Father, by nature itself. But we do know that You can graft any fruit that's pertaining to that into that vine, and it'll live by the vine.

And we know that we can take a orange tree and grow citrus fruits of different kinds, seven or eight. We can put lemons on it; we... It'll grow right in, because it's a citrus fruit. It'll grow, grapefruit and many other, tangerines and many other citrus fruits. But if that tree brings forth its own branch again, it'll be an orange, Lord. It'll be like the first one was. And we believe that there is to be a church in these last days, that will receive both former and latter rain. It'll be scattered throughout the world in this Laodicean Age. It'll be a church that's called back to the original faith in God. It'll be a church that'll have Jesus Christ walking in it, manifesting Himself; the shout of the King will be in it.

E-36 The prophet said there'd be a former rain and a latter rain; in the latter rain would be both former and latter rain together--a great church universal that would sweep from one side of the world to the other side of the world. A great message, great signs and wonders, would be accomplished by this church. Daniel said the people that know their God in that day shall do exploits. 64-3 Someone asked me to repeat that Hebrew word again. In Joel the 2nd chapter (Joel 2:28) where he's speaking of the coming of the former and latter rain, the word "former" is the Hebrew word M-o-u-r-e-h, moureh, which means "teaching." In other words, it'll be a teaching rain and a harvest rain. Now, we've had the teaching rain, and we're ready now for the harvest rain. You know the first rain is when you plant the seed. That starts your crop growing. Then just before it matures, there comes another crop. That's what they call the harvest rain. We know when it is--the spring rains, and then the rains about June, it makes your crop.

Jesus came and had the Mount Transfiguration showdown. This forerunner of the last days will sow for the former rain. Jesus will be the showdown between denominations and creeds (which is His Word). E-9 The Scripture says that there would be a former rain and a latter rain. Well now, the Hebrew word (I cannot call it just now.), but "former rain" means "a planting of seed." See? So the seed is planted now and getting planted all out through these organizations.

Now, when the Spirit begins to fall in that great portion, It'll bring forth Its kind. So let's pray that the--the Holy Spirit will plant the Seeds all through that organization, and when the great gush does come that there'll be a crop come out of that.

54 We've had a revival. Joel said... We fuss so much about latter rain, had movements called latter rain; latter rain, former rain, inner rain, outer rain. I was reading the other day. Do you know what former rain means in the Hebrew word? I can't call it right now; I never wrote it down; it skipped my mind. But "former rain," the first rain, means "a rain of teaching." The second rain is the Spirit that comes upon what's been taught and produces the crop. Why is it we had such a revival? Pentecostal, Baptist, all the other trees put forth their buds, as Jesus said they would be. And what have we hatched out? The Baptists said they got a million more in '44. Look at the Catholic, how they increased. Look at all denominations. Look at Pentecost. What did we do? We sowed denominational seeds; we reaped the denominational harvest. Why, the church ought to be on fire for God right now, if there'd been a Word seed sowed back there, and there'd be signs, wonders, miracles, and that church would be together, one heart, one accord, and marching toward Zion for the rapture. That's right.

What did we do? We had intellectual speeches instead of the Word. We had reasoning against the Word and everything else.

E-50 I think, after this great revival that's swept the world in these last few years, I think the saints of God ought to be in the heavenlies everywhere, and the power of God going into hospitals, and everywhere else, and great signs and wonders, and miracles taking place. But He can't get the people to stand still long enough. If we sow denominational seeds, we reap a denominational harvest. That's exactly. That's what we've done.

If you notice that word there in the Hebrew, former and latter rain; former rain means a sowing rain. And then when the Spirit falls, it falls on the just and unjust. If we've sowed denominational seeds, we just reap the denominational harvest. That's what we've done. The Baptists took a million more in '44. And hard tell what they are now after the great evangelist Billy Graham, and many of them, has swept. Look at our Pentecostals, through Oral Roberts, and Tommy Osborn, and great men like that.

E-58 But God said, "I will restore all the years that the palmerworm and cankerworm and all the other worms eat. I will restore, saith the Lord." That same church that was down yonder on the day of Pentecost that fell, and filled a church, that the Roman church finally (cankerworms into organizations, denominations) eat it down to a stump. But God said He would restore it in the last days.

Evening light shall shine. We need evening-time evangelism, with evening-time message, not a bunch of creeds. They had former and latter rain. The Hebrew word for "former" means "sowing rain," and then the reaping rain. Sowing... What have we got out of this revival? More members. What did we sow? Denominational seed. We reap a denominational crop.

The Baptists had a big slogan out: a million more in forty-four. Billy Graham, great revivalist... That's true. We appreciate them men. But what we need today, brother, is sow the Gospel seed of the Word of the power, resurrection of Christ, the living Being that's living with us, in us now, present tense. "He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also." Amen.

This age started just after the turn of the twentieth century. As it was to be the age in which the true church would return to being the bride she was at Pentecost, we know that there must of necessity be a return of dynamic power. The believers sensed this in their spirits and began crying to God for a new outpouring such as was in the first century.

What seemed to be the answer came as many began to speak in tongues and manifest gifts of the Spirit. It was then believed that this was indeed the long awaited RESTORATION. It was not, for the latter rain can come only after the former rain which is the spring or TEACHING rain. The latter rain, then, is the HARVEST rain. How could this be the real thing when the Teaching Rain had not come? The Prophet-Messenger who was to be sent to TEACH the people and turn the hearts of the children back to the Pentecostal fathers had not yet come. Thus what was thought to be the restoration and the final quickening unto the rapture had not come. In it was a mixture of the unrighteous partaking of Spiritual blessing and manifesting in the Holy Ghost as we have kept pointing out to you. In it also was devil power as men were under the control of devils, yet no one seemed to realize it. Then, to prove that it was not the REAL, these people (even before a second generation had appeared) organized, and wrote their unscriptural doctrines and built their own fences as every other group ahead of them did.
