And all that live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. The
devil's always been after the church of the living God. Is that right? And it's
always had a black name. Jesus was born in this world with a black name, as illegitimate
child. Did you know that? Supposed to be born a--a child out of holy wedlock,
Jesus had that hanging on Him. But in His heart He knew He was the Son of God.
That's right.

Jesus our Lord, as He walked here on earth, He did not just go about
from place to place with great entertainments, and the applause of men, and the
applauding of the audiences, and the great flowery things that the men of this
world, or the teachers, would praise Him by. But every footstep that He made
was ordered by the Lord. Oh, I just love that, when He said even at twelve
years old, "Know ye not that I must be about My Father's business?"
How that brings us then to shame when we're so all the time gadding around. And
the Bible said, "That the footsteps
of the righteous is ordered of the Lord." We
should walk in His ordination for us. Walk like a Christian; talk
like a Christian; live like a Christian.

And I wish to take tonight for a text, them last three words: "Hear
Ye Him." We find as we read this marvelous Word of God, we find that where
our Lord Jesus was always about the Father's business. Every step that He made
had a meaning. There was not one act that He did but what was ordained of God.
And it does us so good to think that the Bible said, "The footsteps of a righteous is ordered of the Lord." And if we'll just do what's in our heart...
David
was once setting before Nathan the prophet, and he said, "Is it right that
I'd live in a house of cedar and the ark of my God under a tent?"
And Nathanael said to him, "Do all that's in
thine heart for God is with thee." And we find in our most unusual
Scripture reading tonight, a very outstanding instant.

And then again we wonder in the Scriptures, when it's written, "All
things work together for good to them that love God." And many times when
maybe the lash of His correction is laying upon us, we wonder how that it could
be working for the good. But after it's all over, then we look back and we
praise Him for it because He knows; we do not. We just act obedient to His Word
and to His chastising. He never did chastise us unless we had need of it. And
sometimes we might think that we wasn't guilty, but He knows... Maybe we are
not, but He knows just how to do it to make it all work good. And what a--a
beautiful thing it is just to lay your life in His hands and say, "Here am
I, Lord. Just use me now; lead me, and guide me, and direct me in the way that
would be pleasing unto Thee." And then don't
murmur. No matter what the path is, stay with it
anyhow, and God will work it all
right. "The footsteps
of the righteous is ordered by the Lord." And that Scripture is true

But we have to watch. God leads His children, and the footsteps of the righteous is ordered of the
Lord. They are led by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes you think you're making a mistake, but if the
Spirit is leading you, go do it anyhow. The Holy Spirit tells some of
you people in wheelchairs, "Get up and start walking," walk anyhow.
"How am I going to it?"
That's not
your business.
Just listen what the Spirit says. Tells you to come at the altar, repent; do
it. "My neighbor, my pastor..." I don't care what he says. What the
Holy Spirit says, go do it. "Sons of Gods are led by the Spirit of God."
Now, many times I've went to cities. I thought I made a mistake, but I just kept on
battling on. After while, it wasn't a mistake.

Now, Jesus was speaking here of some of the people in the days that God had
showed signs. One He spoke of was Jonah, and Jonah was sent down to Nineveh.
And I always felt sorry for Jonah, because many people, I think, misunderstood
Jonah. Now, they said Jonah was backslidden, and he was this, that, and the
other, and I've said the same. But let's just study Jonah for a minute.
I don't believe that he was backslid, because he was
God's prophet. And he seemed to be walking out of the will of God, but the
little story I want to tell you in a moment, I believe you'll see that God made
it all work out just right.
You know the
footsteps of the righteous are ordered of the Lord. That gives us ministers a time--a chance
sometimes to kind of catch our breath when we think we made a wrong move. But
sometimes God's just moving with us. We think it's wrong, but maybe it's God
moving.

"As Jonah was in the belly of the whale, the Son of man will be in
the heart of the earth." Many people today think He's still there; but
He's not dead. He's risen from the dead and's here with us now, appearing among
us, proving Himself, up and down the coast, around the world everywhere, that
He lives. And the wicked and an adulterous generation sees a sign that Jesus
Christ is alive and not dead. A wicked and an adulterous generation will seek
after a sign, and they'll get it: the sign of the resurrection. Let it soak
real deep now. Study hard.
While you're letting that soak I want to ask something
about Jonah. Jonah was a prophet. Many people condemn Jonah and say,
"Well, he was a old backslider. He..." He wasn't backslid. A man of
God... "The steps--the footsteps of
the righteous is ordered of the Lord." Do you believe that? And I don't care what the man of God does, if he's ordained
of God. He might do things that he thinks is crazy to himself; but if you only
watch, it works right out exactly right, if he just goes the way he's led.

Now, Moses, Moses was God's servant. Now, Jesus speaking here, He said,
"The men of Nineveh shall rise in the judgment because they repented at
the preaching of Jonah." Jonah was a prophet.
Now, a lot of people just talk bad about poor old
Jonah, and they said he was a--a backslider. I don't think so. I think the
Bible says that the footsteps of the
righteous is ordered of the Lord. Now, we do things that don't... We don't understand why we do it, but we just keep still. As long as you're led of the
Spirit, go do it anyhow. It may be contrary to our thinking, but when the Holy
Spirit said, "Go," we go.
