Disappointments

FOR HIM WILL I ACCEPT   HAMMOND IN  52-0718

E-24    Now, if you've got a--a--a way that, you say, ups-and-downs, and ups-and-downs, I would advise you to go to God, and stay there until you're really borned again. When trials, and troubles and heartaches, and disappointments set in, something holds, not you holding; something holding you. See? It isn't a question whether I hold on or not. It's a question whether He held on or not. It isn't looking at me; it's looking at Him. He was the One.

If I... A man came here, not long ago, said, "Brother Branham, I'm not worthy to be saved."

I said, "No, you're not."

And he started weeping. "He said I've tried since 1940 to get saved." He said, "But I find myself not worthy."

I said, "You never will be worthy."

He said, "Then I can never be saved."

GO TELL MY DISCIPLES     JEFF IN  53-0405S

88    Then when His disciples had seen that, all the disappointments and everything, that--that--that He had, looked like, had let them down. They all started to go back fishing. One went back to his work, and the other one went back this way.

SPEAK TO THIS ROCK   OWENSBORO KY   53-1115

E-29    The devil hates me, and I know he hates you too. And he--he's my enemy. But as long as God's my friend I don't have no fear of him. I just drive him right on back, take the Word of God and move him right on back out of his... out of the place that he thinks he's a holding. He hasn't got no strongholds. He's absolutely legally defeated in every place.

The devil hasn't got one legal right at all nowhere. He's just a devil, and a password that's all. He hasn't got no legal right to any man that'll accept the promise of Jesus Christ. He's whipped. Yes, sir. He's whipped in sickness; he's whipped in disappointments; he's whipped in everything. He's whipped in death. He can't scare me; he can't scare you. That's all he is a big old shadow.

EXPLOITS OF FAITH   CHICAGO IL   53-1213E

E-30    Then if we are God's children by heir, then, heirs of the kingdom, heirs of Abraham, then we should walk as our father Abraham walked, and call those things which are not as though they were, if God has said they were. See? If God said they are then we don't know how it's going to be; but God said so, so we just believe it and move forward, walking by faith. What a beautiful life.

Just think, Abraham at a hundred years old, yet many disappointments, many upsets he had like all Christians do, waiting on the promise, but yet he had... The Bible said that he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief. There's many things taken place: famine, distress, and the things happened, but Abraham didn't stagger. He still believed that God was going to give him the baby.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS     JEFF IN  54-0103E

112-38    We are right now (oh, when I think of that)--we are right now glorified in the Presence of God, borned again believers, "For if this earthly tabernacle be dissolved, we have one already waiting in glory," not somewhere else, right yonder already waiting now. And these earthly bodies groan to be clothed upon with that immortality. Is that right? Sickness, and aches, and pains, and disappointments, and heartaches, and... Oh, I'll be glad when the old pesthouse is closed up, won't you? Yes, sir. We can go home. That's right.

Just... We are--groan to be clothed upon, the Spirit groaning. Oh, when you look and see all the pain around about, all the conglomeration, stink, and sin, and mortal living, and deceit, and everything, I think, "Oh, God, how much longer will it be?"

FAITH IN ACTION   CHICAGO IL    55-1003

E-39    But he looked out into that desert. Would take a two million Jews with much--not much more than heathens, to take them out there in the desert where there wasn't even a--a growing thing. He had to feed them in the journey for forty years. He had deserts and disappointments and everything ahead of him. But God's Word give the promise he'd take them to the promised land, and Moses took out after God's Word.

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO TOSSED ABOUT    JEFF IN  56-0101

10-1    I was saying somewhere, maybe here a few nights ago, I wanted to preach so bad, I preached to my wife in bed till twelve o'clock, just telling her of how glorious Jesus was. A text come in my heart. It kept burning me so great till I just couldn't rest with it. And I just said, "Honey, I want to preach to you a little while." And she roused up; by grace she listened.

I said, "The Christian faith is based solidly upon rest. That's right. A Christian is not tossed about. A Christian doesn't run from place to place. A Christian doesn't fuss, and fume, and worry about things. A Christian rests. It's all over. It's all finished for the believer at Calvary. That's right. Oh, sickness may comes and disappointments; but the Christian's at rest knowing this, that God's able to keep that which He has performed, knowing that no matter what the thing is, or how it looks, there's neither sickness, sorrow, death; there's neither starvation or anything that can separate us from the love of God that's in Jesus Christ. We're at rest. Just let the old ship toss any way she wants to; the anchor holds.

GOD'S COVENANT WITH ABRAHAM CHARLOTTE NC    56-0428

E-27    The boy's married now, and got a baby. So that just shows, depends on what you are looking at. So, you see, you must look at God's promise. See? No matter what takes place, look at God's promise, not how you feel, but what God said. Now, that's Abraham's faith.

When he was here, almost now, he was seventy-five years old and Sarah, sixty-five, and He said they was going to have a baby. And Abraham was strong in faith, giving praise to God, for he knew that God was able to keep His promise. Amen.

How He child trained him for twenty-five years. You know, God trains every child that comes to Him. And the Bible said, "Every son that cometh to God must be chastened of God." And if we cannot stand chastisement, then we're not children of God; we become illegitimate children. A real child of God doesn't mind the whipping rod, the chastisement, doesn't mind the disappointments; he wades right on just the same. God said so. It's in his heart and nothing can move it, he's just there to stay. And Abraham, that's the way he acted upon God's promise, and that's the way every child of Abraham acts tonight. You believe it down here in this pit tonight?

ABRAHAM   BROOKLYN NY   56-1208

E-13    Speaking tonight on this vital subject, and we'll try not to keep too long if we have to stop and continue tomorrow night on it so we can get the prayer, the line started. Last night we missed the prayer line, but the Lord gave us the victory anyhow here in His blessed Presence. He never--He never disappoints anyone. There's no disappointments in the Lord Jesus Christ. How thankful we should be for that.

THEN JESUS CAME   JEFF IN   57-0407E

E-14    Oh, we all had them kind of experiences. I remember when I was first converted, how that my people thought I'd lost my mind. "Well," they said, "if you keep that kind of religion you'll be in the insane institution in a few days." You've had the same thing of people making fun of you, and your associates saying that you'd went off at the deep end. But as long as your faith is in Christ, everything will come out all right. Don't never worry about that.

And I can remember of how that the people... I'd meet my boy friend and the young's girls that I was going with, meet them on the street and said, "Billy, you've become a holy-roller." I didn't care, for I knew that something had happened. Something taken place. And in my heart I believed it to be the real genuine Holy Spirit. Twenty-four years has passed, and it's just as anchored there tonight. I have the same determination to serve Him as I did the first night I promised Him in that little old wood shed. Certainly. Something taken a hold.

Dark hours has come; tragics has come; disappointments has come; death has come; but in the face of it all I rest on that beautiful hope, that He said, "I am the Resurrection and Life. He that believeth in Me, thou he were dead, yet shall he live."

My faith is built on nothing less

Than Jesus Blood and righteousness;

When all around my soul gives way,

Then He's all my hope and stay.

On Christ, the solid Rock, we stand;

All other grounds is sinking sand. (Certainly.)

BLIND BARTIMAEUS     SAN JOSE CA  59-1127

E-41    Oh, isn't He wonderful? When I get speaking about Him, there it just seems like the inside of my soul just gets like scoured out.

Mama used to take our little old dirty shirts when we were little children, and we'd get the collars so dirty. And I don't know whether you did or not, I used to chew on my collar. And mama used to take this old scrub brush. And I don't... I haven't seen one in years, great big old scrub brush. And she'd get that old homemade soap, and we had to make it out of grease. And she'd rub it on there, and take this scrub brush, and she'd scrub it and scrub it, till it was just as white as it could be.

Oh, that's the way I--talking about Jesus does. It is something like God gets in there with a scrub brush, and just scrubs out all my disappointments, and all my cares, and--and just makes me feel so clean. Doesn't it do that to you, just cleans us out? His Holy Spirit comes down and sanctifies us, and takes all the unbelief away from us. That's my prayer tonight, that He do that for us.

I KNOW   JEFF IN  EASTER MESSAGE BOOK  60-0417S

88    You say, "Brother Branham, I'm setting here, waiting for the prayer line."

God's working that just exactly for the good. Why was that precious little boy, the other day, stricken blind when he was born? That God might get glory and turn a city upside-down. Sure, God knows what He's a-doing. God knows. And He puts us on the ash heap in order to show us His glory.

So this morning I say this, friends. After thirty-one years of ministry, after thirty-one years of toils of the field, I want to make my testimony to this: I have seen disappointments. I've seen the time I've asked for things, and cried for things, and begged for things, and failed to get them. But if I'll just wait patiently upon God, then I know that it works just exactly right, comes out just exactly right, does just exactly the right things.

GOD'S PROVIDED WAY FELLOWSHIP  KLAMATH FALLS OR    60-0709

E-81    Someone else before we close now? They want to be remembered in prayer. God bless you back there, young fellow. May God make a preacher out of you. God bless this colored lady setting right here in front of me, this sister. God be with her. God bless you, young fellow, right there. Someone else, balcony or anywhere? Just raise your hand. Say, "Remember me." God bless all these along here. That's good.

I see over here on my left, even some little children. You know, the Scripture speaks of a little child leading them in Isaiah, 10th chapter. Their--their heart's not been pulled through so much of the world, till they're young and tender. They love God, and God loves them, and He--He can talk to them. We've seen so many disappointments and things; it's hard for our hearts. And many time we pulled it through old "True Story" magazines and stuff of the world, that should never have been there. It's callused it. God will take every callous off you, if you just let Him make you tender, sweet, kind hearted, loving, forgiving one another, if you'll just have faith, just believe. I'm just waiting a moment.

KINSMAN REDEEMER   JEFF IN   60-1002

100    Now, watching now, as we go on we find them coming into disappointments. Is that where you come into when you got the Holy Spirit? Sure did. I did: making fun of and everything...

Then notice, life was hard for her. And it's hard after you become a Christian. Because you got to adjust yourself from one life of gaiety and pleasures of the world, to another life of consecration to God. You've got to readjust yourself, over into this side.

RESTORATION OF BRIDE TREE      JEFF IN    62-0422

2-8    And many times we hit little strains, and I know you do too, and little disappointments. But think of them I have, the disappointments I have, when sick mothers on the phone saying, "Oh, God... Well, wait just a minute, Brother Branham. Lord Jesus, I--I--I pray that You'll send him." And--and it--just hung up the phone from another one, and here, and here, and here, and all around the world. You know how it is. And that--that's not easy when somebody on the end of the phone with a sick baby, or a sick husband, or a dying wife, a-praying for you to come.

Now, you could imagine; no wonder I'm a neurotic. As this--it's enough to make one. But I have done this one thing: instead of getting a complex, I've tried to hold steady by keeping my eyes on Calvary and moving on, just as He would have me to do.

And many of my mistakes... I pray that God will forgive me of things, that maybe I should have went one place and didn't go. I'm just human and can--subject to mistakes.

PERSEVERANT   SOUTH GATE CA    62-0623

E-61    Now, there... here might've come up a bunch of preachers to her of her own faith, and said, "You know..." or the faith that her people belonged to and would said, "You know what? If you go, you'll be put out of your church." But still she was persistent. She was going to get there anyhow, regardless of what anybody said. She wanted to get there.

Finally she arrived. Like Noah, she arrived. But when she arrived at Jesus, she thought all was finished then. And many times people think because that God blesses you, gives you a fine meeting, or gives you a big stir of faith right quick... The Lord speaks to you, and call you out of the meeting, you think, "Oh, that's just it." But remember, there's some disappointments there too. God tries every child that comes to Him, every son.

INFLUENCE OF ANOTHER     JEFF IN    62-1013

89    The vision at the temple, he saw on--on a throne God lifted up, God being lifted up. Now, you see, this king that... He had made an example before Isaiah, and Isaiah seen that that king as soon as he got out of his calling was--God smote him with leprosy. Then Isaiah thought, "What must I do?" Uzziah was dead; he'd leaned heavy on his arm. And he thought he was gone; what would he do? Life itself was gone for him nearly. So what did the young prophet do? He made his way down to the temple to pray. He fell down at the altar, and he cried out.

Sometimes God lets the very props be knocked from under us. Sometimes He lets sickness strike us. He lets disappointments, heartaches, strike us. Sometimes He does that to get you where you'd be influenced by the Gospel. Be wise enough to catch it. Don't be stupid enough to walk away from it. See?

VICTORY DAY    SIERRA VISTA AZ    63-0421

E-55    It seems like the Christian life... If the fellow is not absolutely centered on Christ, the Christian life seems like holds so many disappointments. But those disappointments are--are God's Divine will happening for us. Now, it don't seem like it'd be that, but it's God's way of doing things. He lets us hit the river to see what we'll do. Moses led the children of Israel right in the path of duty, and Pharaoh's army behind him, and the dust boiling from a half-a-million men in arms. And here was two million helpless Jews with nothing, standing there, men, women, children, and so forth. And the Red Sea had him cut off, the Dead Sea had him cut off. He... There's no place to go. See? But Moses had a V-day when he prayed through. He went and begin to cry out to the Lord.

And the Lord said, "Why are you crying to Me? I commissioned you to do it. Speak to the children that they go on in the line of duty." Amen. There you are. "Don't cry out to Me. You're commissioned to take these people over there. Just speak to them that they go forward. Stay straight in the path of duty." Amen.

What a courage that ought to be for the sick person. What a courage that ought to be for the backslider. Turn yourself around and start back. Stay in the line of duty. God's business to open up Red Seas. It's God's business. You just speak and move forward. That's all you have to do.

VICTORY DAY    SIERRA VISTA AZ   63-0421

E-57    Notice, Joshua had a V-day at the river too. Joshua had a V-day at Jericho. He certainly did. There where he had crossed, he had a V-day first at the river. There he is in the month of April, probably a mile to cross Jordan was, 'cause up on top of the mountains up there, there's snow melting. And all over the plains, the river was spread.

And no doubt the enemy would've said, "Now, God is quite a--a general, isn't He, lead His army right up here to the time of spring, when the river is its worst, when it's the worst time to cross, and then lead His army up here, and led them to cross." No, God lets disappointments happen to show victory.

Oh, if we could only see that. See? If you'd only see that these things that seems to be so burring you, and upsetting you, they're trials. They're things to stand still, focus your glasses on the Word of God, and speak the Word, and then just walk forward. That's all there is to do it. We get to a time we say, "God, I don't know what to do. I'm up against it." Speak the word, "Lord, I believe," and just start walking forward. God does the opening up of the sea. You just keep walking. See?

LOOK   PHOENIX AZ   63-0428

E-70    Be per--be persistent, like the little Syrophenician woman. No matter how many disappointments she had as she come down, she still had focused herself on that that was God. And she come to Him and got what she asked for, because she had her focus right. She had it, no matter how many puffs of wind come, and saying, "The days of miracles is passed. Your husband will leave you." That didn't bother her a bit. That bullet went straight to its point. Amen. We can focus on...

[Blank.spot.on.tape--Ed.]... time. Then we're looking for Him to come. That's the one that's going... Oh, my. See, you've got to get the purpose. You have got to get know what it is.

THREE KINDS OF BELIEVERS   JEFF IN    63-1124E

18-2    You've got something to do. God's got something for you to do. You may have some heartaches and some troubles; you may have some disappointments, but do we pray to shun them? No, Lord, take me through them, whatever they is. Whatever it is, don't let me escape them. If they're set for me, just give me grace to go through them. That's all.

Now, notice, blind Bartimaeus. He knew that they was told, "This is that prophet of Galilee; He's the Son of David, We believe it." Some of the believers must've told him that. "We believers know that He is the--that Son of David." And he knew if He was, He was the Word.

COURT TRIAL     BIRMINGHAM AL   64-0412

E-33… And you've got to get healed if you believe it and accept it. It's the seed that a sower sowed, and it fell into the ground. And if it comes... Some fell on rocks, you know; it didn't have no root. Some fell on thorns and disappointments, and that choked it out. But some went where there was no weeds, and thorns, and rocks.
